Shenphos

Fumigant is the effective warehouse pest’s eradicator

It’s a sort of chemical fumigant containing active material of Aluminum Phosphide.
It will work effectively by releasing Phosphin gas (PH3) which is very toxic for insects.
Composition :
Aluminium phosphide…………………..57 %
Inert Material..…….….....................43 %
Reaction :
AlP + 3H2O Al(OH)3 +

Packaging :
Its packaging is with an aluminum bottle by net weight 1,5 kg (for 500 tablets) and it’s put in a box by weight 21 kg (containing 14 bottles).

Purpose:
→ Fumigant for agriculture / food commodity such as seeds, feeding for cattle, pulses, dried fruits, cocoa, coffee beans, tea leaves, tobacco, cotton, flour, hulled rice, spices etc.
→ It is able to use in some places e.g. silo, warehouses, containers, freighters etc.
→ It is able to use as well for eradicating dangerous rodents that stay in holes.

Benefit of Shenphos :
1. Not declining quality/ nutrient of commodities
2. Not changing taste, aroma, and color of commodities
3. Extremely low in residue and vanished easily by aeration
4. Environment friendly and harmless for ozone layers

Research Methode :
→ Prepare 10 sacks of rice @ 50 kg and compile onto flonder forming a pile of rice sacks and provide concave covers for it.
→ Prepare units of treatment which one unit of treatment consists of 4 plastic containers containing 10 gram of rice and 10 Imago for each. Each of them must be covered with gauze.
→ Every unit of treatment shall be repeated as many as 3 times (to become 12 plastic containers).
→ All units of treatment, then, shall be randomly placed (inserted) among sacks of rice.
→ Put SHENPHOS fumigant in a Petri dish and place it in the unit of treatment that prior to be put into a plastic concave cover.

Monitoring Parameter :
1. Water level of rice
2. Effectiveness of fumigant again experimental insects imago (insects mortality)
3. Effectivnes of fumigant newly hatched insects (coming up a number of newly hatched insects)

Test Conclution :
1. Shenphos by dosage 1 tablet/ton of rice is very effective to exterminate mature insects such as S. Zeamais and T. Castanium during 5 to 7 days of radiation.
2. SHENPHOS by dosage 2 tablets/ton of rice will exterminate imago very effectively from species of S. zeamais, R. dominica and T. castaneum during 5 and 7 days of radiation.
3. SHENPHOS by dosage 1, 2, 4 tablets/ton of rice is very effective to exterminate eggs, larva and pupa of insects from species of S. zeamais, R. dominica and T. castaneum.
4. SHENPHOS will not cause the rising of water level of rice.

Research Method:
Technique of Fumigation and Covering for Staple
1. Staple should be compiled according to treatment by 3 times of repetition, apply then plastic hose as concentrate meter at upside, middle side and underside and put down the biological test tubes containing experimental insects and bred insects.
2. There shall be taken a sample for analyzing insect population before a fumigation is done.
3. Insert the fumigant with the dosage is needed; let it be processing up to 7 days.

Taking off fumigation plastic
 Check air in the storehouse by using phosphine meter, if its concentrate might be above 0.3 ppm, wear a canister mask
 The fumigation plastic on the corner part of staple should be folded upwards. Let it open for 30 minutes so that the gas concentrate will go down, and then take the whole plastic off for an hour minimum until the gas is seriously safety.

Measuring and Monitoring
 Measuring for gas concentrate shall be conducted on day-1 up to day-7 to find out whether the fumigant releases phosphine gas adequately for eradicating insects and to monitor the distribution of phosphine gas as the fumigation is occurring.
 Measuring for storehouse’s temperature and RH is done everyday up to day-7.
 After the fumigation done the mortality of insects from the experimental insects’ tubes is counted and then, the remaining tubes and bred insects shall be incubated at Laboratory for a month and observed whether there are growing insects.

Monitoring Parameter:

1. Concentrate of SHENPHOS fumigant
2. Effectiveness of fumigant against experimental insects imago (insects mortality)
3. Total average of insects in the biological test tubes during period of incubation at Laboratory (4 weeks)

Test Conclusions:

 SHENPHOS by dosage 2 tablets/ton is very effective for exterminate imago from types of Sytophilus sp. and Tribolium castaneum in radiation period for 7 days.
 SHENPHOS by dosage 2 and 3 tablets/ton is very effective to exterminate eggs, larva and pupa of insects from species of Sytophilus sp. and Tribolium castaneum.
 SHENPHOS fumigant by dosage 2 tablets its gas concentrate is above 600 ppm on day-2 up to day-7 but by dosage 3 tablets the gas concentrate is above 600 ppm on day-2 up to day-4 and the concentrate values are very effective to eradicate warehouse pest.

Pest Storage

Pest Storage
Consist of 4 part base on the way of eat are:
1. Internal Feeders
Storm the good grain(not process yet) and stay inside.
Example : Sitophilus oryzae (rice weevil),

Ryzophertha dominica (lesser grain borer).
Sitotroga cereallea (Lepidoptera, gelechiid

2. External Feeders
Storm the grain from outside (good and after process).
Example : Tribolium spp (flour beetle),
Lasioderma serricorne (tobacco beetle),
Stegobium paniceum (drugstore beetle),
Trogoderma granarium (khapra beetle).
3. Scavengers
Storm the grain after process or not good quality in physicly caused by another pest.
Example : Oryzaphilus surinamensis (sawtoothed grain beetle),
Ephestia kuehniella (mediterranean flour moth).
Plodia interpunctella (Indian Meal Mouth)

4. Secondary Pests
storm the damage grain, moist/rotting or shell fish.
Example : Tenebrio molitor (yellow mealworm),
Alphitobius spp/Darkling beetle/Kutu Frengki (lesser mealworm beetle).
